Upcycle Volunteer (Merrion Centre)

We’re looking for Upcycle Volunteers to support our sustainability aims and create new treasures!

In this role, you’ll use your creative skills in sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet to upcycle and re-work garments, jewellery and accessories that would otherwise go to the recycling bin.

You don't need to have skills in all the areas above, but basic skills in sewing & making items are required.

  • Time commitment: ideally one shift (4 hours) a week where possible - the shop is open Monday-Sunday 10am-5.30pm

  • Location: our charity shop in the Merrion Centre

  • Checks required:

  1. Self-disclosure: we will ask you to declare any unspent convictions or cautions as part of our safeguarding procedures – please see our Statement on Recruitment of Ex-Offenders and the Risk Assessment for this role (see Downloads). A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from becoming a volunteer and we will support you through this process.

  2. References: we require two references from people who have known you for longer than 6 months and who must not be related. One reference must be from someone in a position of seniority to you (e.g. tutor, faith past employer or previous volunteering supervisor.)

  • Expenses: we reimburse reasonable travel and meal expenses in line with our Volunteer Expenses Policy (see Downloads).
