Community Voices Volunteer (PPIEP)

Do you want to help make sure our hospitals can deliver the best care? Would you like your voice to be heard in decision making around grant funding and medical research? Then this could be the opportunity for you!

We are looking for volunteers who have lived experience of accessing Leeds Teaching Hospitals to be part of our new Community Voices panel and have your say.

Patient and public involvement, engagement and participation (PPIEP) in research helps ensure that research is focused on outcomes that are important to people. Co-production enables people with lived experience to work with researchers on an equal footing to shape research. Such work makes research more relevant by helping to identify and prioritise wider research questions that may not have been considered by researchers. To this end, we are working towards embedding PPIEP and co-production within our grant making processes.

As part of our commitment to PPIEP, we are recruiting members for our Community Voices Group. Members will work together as a group made up of people with lived experience and a clear connection to Leeds Teaching Hospitals to support the Charity’s grant making process, providing a different lens and perspective.

Your contribution to the Group will form a valuable part of the charity’s funding decision-making process and inform recommendations made by all our funding Panels and Committees not just research panels.

Commitment: 4x 60-90 minute online group sessions a year

Location: Online (remote)

Onboarding: you may be asked to an informal interview for this role and we will ask you complete a Confidentiality Agreement. On the application form we will ask you to disclose any unspent convictions or cautions as part of our safeguarding procedures – please see our Statement on Recruitment of Ex-Offenders and the Risk Assessment for this role (see Downloads). A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from becoming a volunteer and we will support you through this process.

Please note: this is a voluntary role, with most activities conducted online. Participation in the Community Voices Group is entirely voluntary and unpaid.

Some discussions during the Community Voices Meeting may involve sensitive or potentially triggering topics.
